Renewable energy in Texas: Python web scraper and Twitter bot
Developed a Python application that scrapes fuel mix data from the Electricity Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and automatically sends two tweets a day to provide information on renewable energy penetration in Texas.
The application collects fuel mix data that is published every 5 minutes and calculates the maximum renewable fuel mix over the previous 24 hours and the renewable mix at the time of peak load over the previous 24 hours, allowing followers to stay informed on the state of renewable energy in Texas.
Utilized Python packages such as tweepy and pandas to further develop my knowledge of these tools and learn new skills in data scraping and analysis.
This analysis provides valuable insights into the current state of renewable energy in Texas and can inform decisions around future energy policy and investment in the state.
Note: following changes to Twitter's API commercial plan, the twitter account has been deactivated.
